Clay County 2025 Budget Approval

Clay County commissioners quickly approved a $124 million budget and a 4.45% increase in the net tax levy. Commissioner David Ebinger noted the brevity of approval was due to their prior months of work and familiarity with the budget, which begins its process in May. The budget supports various sectors including $25.8 million for the general revenue fund, over $19.8 million for road and bridge fund indicating a 19.2% increase, and new allocations for social services and a non-secure transitional housing for high-risk girls. Noteworthy is the $7.2 million budget for the Sheriff’s Office, marking an 11.8% increase to fund two additional deputies.

Thousands of Minnesotans start their day with Daily Moorhead

“Reading the newsletter has become a really positive daily habit for me. I read it while drinking my coffee and planning the day. It saves me a ton of time, but it's really enjoyable too. It's great to have the news filtered down to just a handful of critical events everyday that actually matters to me. I also like reading the community profiles. They interview people locally like teachers, politicians, and small business owners. It's hard to find this anywhere else.”

“I'm a senior citizen here in Moorhead, and this newsletter is like a lifeline. I don't have the attention span these days to read the paper, and Facebook is a mess. This newsletter keeps me informed, without taking the whole day from me.”

“I like how this newsletter keeps me connected with our community. It's great to have a dedicated source that focuses on what's going on locally. So many news companies are focused on huge attention-grabbing national headlines. But, besides the entertainment value, it's not really relevant to my day-to-day. Also it's great the newsletter is free.”

“This newsletter has been a game-changer for my business. It not only highlights local news but also features small businesses like mine. It's a great platform for local exposure.”

“I'm a parent, and it's apparent how busy that makes me. I LOVE newspapers (especially the smell), but I never have time to read it anymore. So thank god this newsletter exists, and I can read it in a few minutes. If anything is really critical or catches my eye, I can always spend more time reading into each piece of news, but it isn't usually necessary.”
