➤ Local activists held a news conference today in Moorhead to call for the release of Andrea Pedro-Francisco, who was detained on Feb. 5 by federal immigration agents ahead of her ovarian cyst surgery and is held in El Paso (Texas). KVRR

GOVERNMENT NEWS

➤ The Minnesota Department of Transportation will start a Highway 75 resurfacing project in Moorhead on Monday. Fargo-based Border States Paving will resurface the road, replace culverts, clean the ditch, and upgrade sidewalks between 46th Avenue and the 60th Avenue S. roundabout, with work ending by mid-June. KVRR

LIFESTYLE NEWS

➤ Heather Clyde of Homeward Animal Shelter rescued five one-week-old premature kittens found abandoned in a gas station box in Fargo and said they now need feeding every hour to survive; she added that Thursday's Spayghetti and No Balls fundraiser will help support homeless pets. KVRR
