United Way launched its School Supply Drive early with a new goal of 6,500 backpacks for elementary students to meet demand from recent years—donations are now accepted online to help local kids who live in poverty.

The CEO of Great Plains Food Bank, Melissa Sobolik, is resigning to lead Rhode Island Community Food Bank — her final day will be July 11 after 18 years with the organization — and Chief Operating Officer Kate Molbert will serve as interim CEO until a new leader is named.

Construction on the I-94 Red River Bridge has caused heavy traffic delays in our area as crews replace the deck overlay and rebuild concrete approach slabs with nightly lane closures from 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. Motorists starting Tuesday will face additional closures on I-94 between Rothsay and Fergus Falls for concrete resurfacing while work continues until October.
