- ➤ River Keepers led a group kayak excursion on the Red River Wednesday night—20 people joined seasoned kayakers and animal experts from the Red River Zoo—and will offer more trips this summer that teach about local wildlife and river history. KVRR
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ RiverArts kicked off today at Viking Ship Park with live performances from Fargo’s Hardanger fiddle group and Post Traumatic Funk Syndrome, along with tents from local businesses and a petting zoo. The event series will run over five Wednesdays this summer — a fresh start to the season in Moorhead. KVRR
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Moorhead City Council member Heather Nesemeier has been diagnosed with idiopathic myointimal hyperplasia of mesenteric veins—a rare condition seen in only 34 individuals that led to emergency surgery when her colon ruptured. She will have a life-altering surgery on June 16 and expects to recover in 8 to 12 weeks while asking Minnesota state employees to donate vacation hours. KVRR
- ➤ June is Men’s Mental Health Month and experts say many men hide their feelings which can delay help for anxiety or depression. Essentia Health’s Dr. Alexandra Kohlhase said a supportive environment—one that encourages open conversation—might help men get proper care. KVRR
