GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Prairie Public Broadcasting said it may lose about $2 million in federal funds over the next two years if Senate lawmakers proceed with cuts—forcing changes to its programming, staff and facilities in North Dakota and western Minnesota. The broadcaster is saving money now to cushion the impact—while a separate agreement secures some funding for Native American radio stations.  KVRR

HEALTH NEWS

  • Residents near Pelican Lake reported a severe outbreak of swimmer's itch dubbed 'Merganser Measles' since scientists found the parasite from Merganser ducks is 45 times more virulent than usual. A task force is working with U.S. Fish and Wildlife and awaits permission from the Minnesota DNR to remove the Mergansers — a step aimed at controlling the outbreak.  KVRR
