ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ The pilot of an Air Tractor 301 crop-spraying plane had a mechanical issue and tried to land on a road on Wednesday night before his aircraft crashed in a cornfield three miles west of Horace—he walked to a nearby farm and then went to a Fargo hospital while the plane is registered to Ag. Spray Inc. of Moorhead. KVRR
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ North Dakota native and genealogist Johan Stenslie stopped at the Sons of Norway on August 7th to share research tips and perform church hymns on the accordion—he noted that the Fargo-Moorhead area has strong Scandinavian roots. He plans to visit Bismarck and New Town before returning to Norway. KVRR
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Red River Valley Diversion Project rerouted the river today after more than 15 years of work—using over 200,000 work hours and $750 million in federal funds to help protect hundreds of thousands from flooding. The $3 billion project features a 22-mile embankment with 50-foot-wide by 52-foot-tall steel gates and is the first public—private partnership flood management effort in North America. KVRR
- ➤ Captain Bill Ahlfeldt is stepping down from the Fargo Police Department to become Deputy Chief of Moorhead Police Department and will start on August 25—he will work under Police Chief Chris Helmick, who joined in April. KVRR
