- ➤ Regional libraries mark the 200th anniversary of the first organized Norwegian immigration as celebrated author Lars Mytting speaks tonight at Concordia College about his novel The Bell in the Lake—which follows a family of Norwegian settlers from the 1880s through World War II and shows how they mixed Christian faith with old Norse traditions. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Moorhead Public Library shared winter yard and garden tips after a UMN Extension seminar where Jillian Patrie advised covering strawberry plants, removing invasive species, and mulching leaves — the library will also offer classes on caring for houseplants starting October 20. KVRR
- ➤ Yesterday, NDSU launched the Peltier Institute for Advancement in Agricultural Technology with a $15 million donation from the Peltier family—aiming to link agriculture, engineering, data science, and artificial intelligence to improve food production, sustainability, and workforce development—and plans to host ten scholars each year for hands-on training. The institute will open in a new engineering building by fall. KVRR
