- ➤ Minnesota food pantries including Dorothy Day expressed concern that more people on SNAP benefits might soon rely on them for food — with about 440,000 Minnesotans already on SNAP and the program serving 42 million nationwide — Devlyn Brooks of Churches United said pantries serving roughly 350 families a week are already stretched and may struggle to meet rising demand. - ➤ The F5 Foundation, a regional nonprofit, will hold its Legacy and Light fundraiser next month that serves as a memorial service for those lost to suicide—featuring speakers sharing their experiences in the correctional system and outlining support for former felons transitioning back to society through jobs, housing, and social services. This event marks a shift from the usual formal gathering to a tribute honoring community losses and highlighting the organization's continued mission. KVRR

- ➤ Concordia’s 99th annual Christmas Concert Welcome All Wonders! will have tickets on sale starting Tuesday, October 28 — available online, by phone or at the Memorial Auditorium Box Office — with performances on Dec. 5 at 7:30 p.m., Dec. 6 at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., and Dec. 7 at 2 p.m. KVRR
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Moorhead Public Schools is asking voters to approve two referendums for a $4.37 million operating levy and an extra $1.5 million for equipment and transportation on November 4. Superintendent Brandon Lunak warned that without approval, the district will face an additional $5 million in cuts in staffing, security, and transportation after already making $4 million in budget cuts.
